Hotels in Waikiki

We never get to stay as long as we want in Honolulu, so parking ourselves in a hotel right on a beach saves us the precious time it takes to get to the beach from our room. Tell us about your favorite hotel in Waikiki, particularly if they are not as well known but still offer a great experience, and deserve a free plug.

Deals on Meals

The common lament among tourists is that eating well in Waikiki is expensive. However, if you know where to look, you can find some real bargains and eat well too. Last time I was there, we found this outrageous breakfast deal at Galaxy Steakhouse (2301 Kuhio Ave.). For $2.99, you get a stack of pancakes, 2 eggs and choice of bacon or sausage. So while supplies last...

Let us know if you spot any other bargains in the neighborhood.

Kyoto Ramen, McCully Shopping Center

I've been keeping a dog eared Kyoto Ramen customer loyalty card in my wallet for over a couple years now. The deal with the card is that you buy 10 ramen and get one free. Each time I visit Honolulu, I swing by at least once or twice to get my ramen fix. After a couple of years of Waikiki vacations, I needed just 3 more to get my free ramen. Since I was with my wife and sister in law during our last visit, I thought the 3 was in the bag. Well, what do you know...just as we got there, I realized I had left my wallet back at the hotel.

The free Ramen remains just out of reach, but I'll be back. Their ramen's a real treat. The salty broth is good and so are the noodles. The Japanese style noodles are firm and their ringlets carry just enough of the savory broth to your eager little taste buds.

Where do you get your ramen in Honolulu?

Kyoto Ramen is located in the McCully Shopping Center at the corner of McCully and Kapiolani They are open for lunch and dinner except on Wednesdays. Phone 808-946-2900.

I was chatting with a friend today. Told her we just came back from Honolulu. She says you guys go to Waikiki like you go to the supermarket :-). In any case, I brought the camera my wife gave me for Christmas and made good use of it. More to come.
